Sustain Questions

1. There wasn't great difficulty in the creative process of our Sustain Champlain video. Everyone was very agreeable and able to honor one another's ideas in a calm and organized fashion. The hardest part was just trying to remember our lines. You can't tell from our video but the script was right under the camera, none of us are actors so remembering our lines was some what of a challenge.

2. I would say the most rewarding part about our film was that everyone worked together really well. There wasn't one kid in the group that was flaky or not picking up any slack. We all knew what we had to do to make this project work.

3. Planning more than anything, the weather wasn't always on our side and this affected our filming schedule because we needed perfect sunlight. And days when there was perfect sunlight we all seemed to want to take advantage of that in our own way. Another lesson learned from this assignment would be to make sure that one meets the appropriate guidelines to the criteria. Then finally, it would have been a little bit easier to have everybody be more accessible in a way that we are all talking and updating each other on a weekly basis. So communication for the most part.

4. The fact that when three people travel in a car together it reduces emissions by1/3. I myself have learned to find other means of transportation in order to get where I need to go. And more than anything we as human beings need to be made more aware of our impact on the planet. I know that is a general statement but when you take all the little things that attribute to one's carbon footprint it adds up to a gross amount.

Filming Status

Today we did some discussion about the scripting of the movie. We planned to film today but the rain prevented us from getting anymore progress in. We took a rain check. Everyone is participating equally and communicating efficiently. The project is going according to plan and is coming out nicely. Everyone shows up at meetings. Overall this project should turn out well.

Sustain Champlain 2

After brainstorming many ideas as to what environmental action we wanted to portray in our video we came to the idea our carpooling. With the cost of gas sky-rocketing in today's economy, car-pooling not only saves money but helps reduce pollutants in the environment. According to Sightline Institute, the average car with a single driver emits 1.10 lbs of carbon dioxide per mile. When you carpool, an average car with three passengers naturally decreases that number by one-third - to only 0.37 lbs of carbon dioxide per mile.

For this project:
Ryan Sheetz: Editor, Camera Man, Actor
Sam Ashton: Camera Man, Director of Photography, Actor
